ATLANTA - On Tuesday, June 29th, the Libertarian Party of Georgia's candidates officially entered the election season of 2010, as the party qualified their first full slate of statewide candidates, assuring a Libertarian appears on the November General Election ballot in every statewide office.  Unlike the Democrats and Republicans, who qualified in April, candidates campaigning under the banner of the Libertarian Party of Georgia must wait until independent, political body, and non-partisan candidate qualifying to officially enter their respective campaign races.  Also unlike the Democrats and Republicans, Libertarian Party of Georgia candidates are nominated via the party's state convention, which took place on April 24th of this year.  





Among those qualifying, gubernatorial candidate John Monds, the largest vote getter in the history of the Libertarian Party in his stellar showing in 2008's Public Service Commission (District 1) race, qualified to become the first African-American to appear on a General Election ballot for Governor in the state of Georgia.  Additionally, the Libertarian nominee for Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Rhonda Martini, qualified to become the first female Lieutenant Governor candidate to appear on a General Election ballot in the Peach State.  The rest of the slate includes:

EXCITING NEWS from Augusta!

From today's press release:

Taylor Bryant will file his Declaration of Intent to seek the seat of School Board Representative for District Six.

Taylor Bryant recently ran in the special election for Senate Seat 22. He is the Second District Coordinator for the Libertarian Party of Georgia. He is also the Public Relations Director for the CSRA affiliate. Taylor was the charter PTSA President for Pine Hill Middle School for the 2009-2010 school year.

Taylor is married and has two children in the Richmond County School System. He is currently employed by Gerald Jones Auto Group as a European Auto Technician.


Keep an eye out for Taylor, as he looks to join the ranks of elected Libertarians here in the Peach State.

This Memorial Day weekend, The Libertarian Party of Georgia sent 28 delegates to attend the Libertarian Party's National Convention at the Renaissance Grand Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.  Entitled "Gateway to Liberty," the convention promised to be packed with activity, including a hotly-contested race for Chair of the Libertarian National Committee and a keynote address from 2008 Presidential candidate and former Georgia Congressman Bob Barr
